Ken Martin just said the quiet part out loud. The DNC chair sat down with Peter Alexander and refused to treat the Democratic Socialists of America as a liability — even as Republicans point out their calls to abolish ICE, abolish the police, and open the borders. Instead he doubled down on the “big tent,” claiming you win through addition, not subtraction, and that expanding to include these new voices is how Democrats grow. This isn’t a fringe group on the outside looking in. The DSA has its own Abolish ICE Commission, endorses candidates running on abolishing the Senate and calling for socialized medicine, and has seen its influence rise with figures like Bernie Sanders and Zohran Mamdani. Martin’s answer was that the vast majority of Americans sit somewhere in the middle, center-left, or center-right — yet that doesn’t stop the party from bringing these voices in. A White House analysis of selected DSA platform items put the 10-year cost at roughly $49 trillion, or about $355,000 per household, largely driven by Medicare for All plus open borders and related policies. For regular Americans watching border enforcement, public safety, and household budgets, the question is simple: How far does “addition” go before the coalition no longer represents the people who have to live with the results?

French supermarket cyberattack forces fridges to 50°C, spoiling food and causing fires at hundreds of stores.
Trump on “Gays for Palestine”: “Do you know what they do to gay people in that part of the world? Let’s send them over to negotiate — you’ll never see them again.”
German state records 358 child marriages since 2012 — including 11-year-old Iraqi girl — with only eight annulled.
Does the Democratic Party still represent the middle when its chair welcomes the abolish-ICE wing? Have you seen this shift play out in your own state or local races?
