As a professional school counselor for 24 years, Sandy Austin has counseled students in the aftermath of four school shootings, plus four suicides in eight months at a fifth school. Now as the Executive Director of the nonprofit B.I.O.N.I.C. Team (Believe It Or Not I Care), Sandy empowers students in schools worldwide to create caring school cultures by reaching out to struggling peers to let them know they are seen, they matter, and they are not alone in order to prevent bullying and suicides. Sandy is an international speaker, has written three books, and has won two Lifetime Achievement Awards. She is a recognized leader serving as President of two state school counseling associations in Colorado and as the Facilitator for the American School Counselor Association’s Crisis Professional Interest Network.
