Judge John Sumner
BIO
1. Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Court of Cherokee County
2. Appointed to the Juvenile Court bench in 2001
3. Past President of the Georgia Council of Juvenile Court Judges
4. Served as chair of the subcommittee for foster care code reform
5. Frequent presenter at National, Regional, and State trainings
6. Served as a Municipal Court Judge as well as Judge Pro-Tem in Superior and State Court
7. Prior to his appointment to the Juvenile Court bench, Judge Sumner had extensive trial experience in private practice, which included domestic, guardian ad litem, and juvenile court work. He also served as a staff attorney with the University of Georgia.
8. He graduated with honors from both the Georgia State University College of Law and Undergraduate program.
