Dew and frost gleam.
蒹葭苍苍，白露为霜。
（河边芦苇青苍苍，秋深露水结成霜。）

Where’s she I need?
Beyond the stream.
所谓伊人，在水一方，
（意中之人在何处？就在河水那一方。）

Upstream I go,
The way is long.
溯洄从之，道阻且长。
（逆着流水去找她，道路险阻又太长。）

Downstream I go,
She’s there among.
溯游从之，宛在水中央。
(顺着流水去找她，仿佛在那水中央。)

White, white the reed,
Dew not yet dried.
蒹葭萋萋，白露未晞。
(河边芦苇密又繁，清晨露水未曾干。)

Where’s she I need?
On the other side.
所谓伊人，在水之湄。
(意中之人在何处?就在河岸那一边。)

Upstream I go,
Hard is the way.
溯洄从之，道阻且跻。
(逆着流水去找她，道路险阻攀登难。)

Downstream I go,
She’s far away.
溯游从之，宛在水中坻。
(顺着流水去找她，仿佛就在水中滩。)

(河边芦苇密稠稠，早晨露水未全收。)
