Here I discuss how to pay tithing with stocks, called donations in kind. I'm surprised it's not more well known since it can save you a lot of money by avoiding the long-term capital gains tax of 15%! I'll discuss how and why we want to model charitable giving to our kids, some charities we like to support (Charity: Water and Watsi), where to find unbiased reviews of charities (Charity Watch  or Charity Navigator) and what tithing is.
