"Massive Attack" were the pioneers of the short lived, but highly influential electronic subgenre known as trip hop. With trip hop becoming one of the largest alternative music genres in Europe during the latter half of the 1990s, Massive Attack were able to make waves in mainstream media as well. One of their songs, "Teardrop", became the opening theme to the hit American television show, "House". Additionally, the song "Dissolved Girl" was featured in the 1999 science fiction action film "The Matrix".

Off The Key has decided to review this record as a way to glimpse into the fascinating world of trip hop, and look back at what many agree to be one of the quintessential albums of the genre.
