On this episode the gang discusses the unlikely collaboration between Floating Points, Pharoah Sanders, and the London Symphony Orchestra titled, "Promises."
"Promises," came about after Pharoah Sanders, a student of John Coltrane and free jazz legend, invited electronic music producer Sam Shepherd a.k.a. "Floating Points" to lunch after hearing his debut album "Elaenia" in 2015. Sanders eventually convinced Shepherd to do a collaboration together and "Promises" was born. Upon its release in 2021, the album was met with universal critical acclaim and placed highly in many critics' year-end lists. Off The Key has decided to revisit this album to see if it still holds up after last year.
