Sligo Train Station has been selected for a car park expansion project in Iarnród Éireann's National Car Park Programme strategy report. 

The strategy report prioritised car park expansion projects nationwide into two lots of work with Sligo placed in the second lot. 

Subject to funding approval and land availability, design work for Sligo car park is expected to commence in 2024 with construction likely to commence in 2025.

Sligo Drumcliff independent Councillor Marie Casserely says there is a major shortage of car parking placing currently at Sligo Station and as result places at other stations such as Collooney are also at a premium.

Ocean FM is a multi award winning local radio station that broadcasts to the Northwest of Ireland. The station covers the area of South County Donegal, North County Leitrim and County Sligo.

The current CEO of the station is Niall Delaney and the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) lists their target audience as 'being all age, socio-economic and ethnic groups across the community'. The station currently employs 22 full-time and 30 part-time staff.
