Knee's are a precious and precarious endeavor.  A hinge joint with some rotational capacity that transfers forces upward and downwards with each and every stride.  People often express an innate fear of either straightening or bending their knees too much.  As if staying in the middle is the safest bet.  Yet, over time, this lack of using the joint fully can severely limit it's range of motion and negatively impact daily functioning.  With the body, what you don't use, you tend to lose.  So if you never accessed the full capacity of knee mobility when you were younger, it becomes increasingly more difficult to stave off a stiffening of this joint over time.

We start standing with one foot on the floor the other knee on a bed. Using Yoga block behind the knee that is on the bed we try to bend the knee gently- without pain/strain.  If that is not enough sensation for you, you can use increasingly smaller and more dense objects to help both support and stimulate your knee.
