<p>  A friend of Ej&apos;s  Gabriella comes on the podcast to talk about her journey through recovery , domestic abuse and parenthood. Gabriella has been clean since 6/21/99 , she tells us about  her childhood surrounded by drugs and alcohol.  She started using at six years old by smoking a cigarette that led her on a path to drugs. Her journey traumatically shifted for the worse when a family member committed suicide, leading  her to an abusive relationship and harder drugs at a young age. June 13th 1999 being a mother living on the streets she got a life changing phone call from her mom telling her to come live  in Santa Cruz Ca. This move led to rock bottom that started  the journey of living a clean life and becoming happily married with her husband Jared Benedict , most important becoming the mother she was meant too be. My name is EJ Erreca I am in recovery from the disease of addiction. My clean date is 6-19-16, there was a time in my life when I put the use of drugs above anything else in my life. I gave away everything as a result of my disease. Finding recovery has enabled me to gain these things back and much more along the way. We created this podcast to highlight the beautiful people I have met on my recovery journey. The hope is for this podcast to reach people who may need to hear the message that any addict can stop using, lose the desire to use, and find a new way to live. Though this podcast is made for the addict, we also hope that it can provide a better understanding of the disease addiction to anyone who may stumble upon it.
