On this week's episode of Not Rocket Science, I break down how Lil Nas X's hit song "Old Town Road" went viral, highlighting how its virality was the sum of multiple ingredients from the music to the pop cultural landscape at the time. I dig deep into the music production side (and how it samples a song I made a beat out of back in the day... waaatt 😡), how he essentially hacked Soundcloud for better distribution πŸ±β€πŸ’», how his past as a tweetdecker helped with the marketing of the song and how it timed up perfectly to leverage the "Yeehaw Agenda"   craze that has been going on for the past year (don't know what that is? I break it all down 🀠 ! )

I found the rise of this particular song as a fascinating case study of music savvy, originality, sheer timing and social media hacking on a level never demonstrated before so breaking it down piece by piece on this episode which was a ton of fun!
