Iran has intensified regional tensions by launching missile and drone attacks on United States military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait, targeting the Ali Al Salem airbase and the Fifth Naval Fleet. This escalation follows U.S. strikes on ten Iranian military positions near the Strait of Hormuz, which were conducted in response to an earlier attack on the Panamanian-flagged oil tanker Kiku. The violence has put a fragile June 17th ceasefire at risk, with President Donald Trump warning of potential military action that could threaten the existence of the Islamic Republic. Meanwhile, Venezuela is reeling from a catastrophic 7.5 magnitude earthquake that has claimed at least 1,450 lives, while Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian refineries have forced President Vladimir Putin to admit to significant domestic fuel shortages.
