Inside the music business with intelligence and humor
Abraham Levitan has unlimited potential with this podcast - I really feel like he's just scratching the surface of where this could go. He's already been able to interview an amazing variety of Chicago area and national music figures who are all unique and present their own stories on what it takes to succeed in the music business. He's not afraid to ask hard questions about money, motivation, and the malaise that make up the day-to-day operations of anyone in the music business. All of this is delivered with refreshing honesty and an aw-shucks sense of humor that really seems to bring out the best in his guests. Honestly, I'd pay good money to listen to him talk to John Roderick again- it was absolutely hilarious. His measured and intellectual approach toward his guests is a great complement to the breadth of his own personal knowledge, having lived as a touring musician himself.
This is an amazing podcast for anyone who has an interest in becoming a working musician, or someone like me who just enjoys music and is fascinated by how hard musicians need to work to succeed, and how lucky they sometimes have to be to truly take their careers to the next level.

Life through Music’s Guts
I like this podcast so far because I like learning about the mechanics of things. And given all the mythology surrounding music’s icons, and the musical archetypes I carry in my head, the mechanics in this case often surprise me. So that’s fun. Abraham seems to be able to deftly draw details from his guests, and they sound excited to talk to him, which is something you want to happen in an interview-based podcast. There are only four episodes out and I’ve already had a binge-listen session with three of them this weekend.

Nerds to the front!
Abraham Levitan is my buddy and former bandmate. If you know him you won't be surprised to hear how quickly his guests begin to feel at ease with him such that these episodes feel like enjoying a brew with old music friends on their way through town. Well done!

Abe is a great interviewer!
This is one of the deeper music biz podcasts I’ve heard. The guests are varied & Abraham’s interviews are unique to the interviewee. Dude is clearly doing his homework on guests, even the ones who are colleagues/friends. He is great at keeping the guest on topic and offering background & insight, while allowing them to do most of the talking. The frequent financial breakdowns are especially refreshing, since even the most seasoned musicians can gloss over this major aspect of creating or doing anything in the music business, for that matter. Well done!

Smart, relevant, enlightening, unexpected. I LOVE THIS PODCAST!
This guy mines out fascinating figures in music, probes topics with a cavalier style, eliciting insightful feedback that takes you deep inside the secret handshakes of the business + the life of those in the industry. He pokes into quotidien routines, ekes out important moments from the subject's history, always building toward the broader brushstrokes of living alongside music. I also love that he gestures toward the current climate and potential futures. Fascinating conversations, and a great new voice in the podcast universe. THANK YOU FOR THESE GREAT SHOWS! My new favorite podcast.

The conversations musicians want to hear
I’m super excited that Nerds On Tour has come into existence. As a working musician who also wants to be able to eat and keep a roof over my head, I find myself asking certain questions into the void every day, questions that don’t seem to come up in most media interviews with musicians. That is, until now! NoT tackles issues of money, life goals, family, and everything else that musicians actually spend most of their time thinking about. It works so well because the host is intimately familiar with the struggles of the working musician, being a very enterprising one himself. The conversations, besides being relevant, are smart, articulate, and funny. Highly recommended!

I'm Hooked!
The great interview with Kelly Hogan was not a fluke. Abraham's conversation with Freda Love Smith is equally interesting, intelligent and witty! He's a talented interviewer and his guests clearly enjoy the time with him. Looking forward to more podcasts.

Not just for musicians
Loved the host and Kelly Hogan was completely charming. I'm not a musician, but found this to be entertaining and engaging. More please!

Wait, are musicians the poorest of all artists?
Music is expensive to create and has crap returns… it’s not looking good!
Levitan is such a great interviewer. The convo is insightful and provocative. Looking forward to more episodes!

Excellent New Podcast
Highly recommend. Abraham is a great interviewer, knowing both his guest and audience. Interesting stories with Abraham’s comedic touch woven in (which really make the podcast). Can’t wait for Episode 2.

Music, money, and more, with a singular host
“Nerds on Tour” is about making music, living life, and trying to do both at the same time. Abraham is an ideal host: smart, funny, and a rock star in his own right (do yourself a favor and download some Baby Teeth while you’re here). I didn’t know I needed this show in my life, and now I fully expect to find myself refreshing iTunes frequently to see if the latest episode is up yet!

PUNS INTENDED
Great Pod. I’m not even a musician and I generally hate nerds but found this to be pretty entertaining. Good stuff.

A comforting conversation for any musician who lives a blurred life between what they do and love
Nerds on Tour is an honest conversation about what it’s like to be a musician. There are certain things that don’t get talked about much that I think Abe does a good job bringing out in his conversations. You can tell he cares from both an emotional and intellectual level about what these artists are saying and feeling. Plus, he can relate to them and that helps the conversation. The first Podcast I listened to had a great well-respected musician and was both funny and interesting.

Insightful and Funny- You Had Me at Hogan!
Already looking forward to the next episode! I've been a Kelly Hogan fan for many years so the podcast was too short for my taste. She is so charming and down to earth, I could listen to her stories for hours.
Abraham's familiarity with her created the atmosphere of 2 friends talking about their love for music over boilermakers at 2 AM in a dive bar - SO AMAZING!
Thanks to you both

Fascinating and funny show
Great stuff, even if you don't play music. Abraham is a natural interviewer, and the insights shared here will be of interest to anyone who works in any artistic field.

Great Start!!
Nerds on Tour brought an interesting conversation about the back end of the music business. Abraham has a lot of knowledge and experience from his own music career, but also knows how to tease out stories from his guest (the fantastic Kelly Hogan). Looking forward to seeing where this one goes!!

Funny and real
Abraham Levitan's questions aim to reveal the ins and outs of touring reality for the musicians who are out there doing it on a budget. Anyone who has been in a band and been on the road knows that it's a real roller coaster ride, and it requires sacrifices to the life gods. Kelly Hogan's interview is a great introduction to the laughs and insights that I'm sure this podcast will continue to deliver.
