The Ark of the Covenant symbolised God&apos;s presence to the Israelites. We hear a doxology from King David in 1 Chronicles 

-36 which was given not long after the Ark was brought to Jerusalem. There is then a brilliant response from the normal people. David learnt that he shouldn&apos;t do things as the nations around him did and that he knew that as he sent his S.O.S. to God, God&apos;s touch would bring him through.
