On this week's episode, I talk with Functional Health and Lifestyle Coach, Brooke Sullivan-Brown, about her work specializing with anxiety and mental health and its connection to nutrition. See below to contact Brooke, the link to the Through Model Process we discussed in the episode, and that yummy hot chocolate recipe!

Coconut milk has a lot of health benefits. Don’t let fat scare you. We actually need fat - good fats - for our brains.  Coconut milk has magnesium and copper. It is a great dairy substitute, especially if you are healing your gut.

Collagen is great for many things, but here, my intention is for gut support and mental health.  Collagen has amino acids which are the building blocks of the body.  Lack of amino acids is highly correlated to depression, anxiety and other mental health issues.

Raw cacao is sooooo good for you! It boosts feelings of happiness and energy levels. Cacao has phenethylamine, which is needed to make your happy hormone, serotonin.  It has flavonoids which are great for your heart and may even help regulate blood sugars. It also gets rid of free radicals - free radicals create disease, so we definitely do not want them in the body! And cacao is one the the world’s top sources for antioxidants!  Not only all this, but it is also good for your brain by boosting blood flow, and studies have shown it can increase your memory and cognition. Yes, cacao is a super food.

Drink up!!
