Judy Garland, the renowned movie star, tragically passed away in London on June 22, 1969, at the age of 47 due to a fatal overdose of barbiturates. Her untimely death came after years of battling depression and addiction.

“I’m always being painted a more tragic figure than I am,” Judy Garland said in 1962. “Actually, I get awfully bored with myself as a tragic figure.”

Despite being only 47 years old at the time of her death, she had experienced a multitude of different roles throughout her life. Starting as a child star, she transitioned into a leading lady and eventually became a beloved gay icon. Garland's life, both personally and professionally, was marked by significant achievements as well as profound struggles.

Garland had established herself as a prominent figure in Hollywood for several decades, showcasing her talent in various roles, such as clicking her heels in The Wizard Of Oz and tap-dancing in Summer Stock. However, behind the facade of the heroines she portrayed from the 1930s to the 1950s, Garland's personal life was filled with instability, mirroring her distinctive vibrato.
