When entering into a serious relationship with the hopes of marriage, expectations are taught to be shied away from to avoid disappointment. The problem with that is not the expectations that are problematic, it's the lack of communication about them. Having expectations and communicating them produces healthy long lasting relationships. Allow someone to know what you need and to be honest if they can meet those needs.
