The Henrico School Board Thursday voted to turn Friday, June 18 – the scheduled last day of school – into a student holiday in honor of Juneteenth, which falls on a Saturday this year. The change means that June 17 will become the last day of school for students and teachers. Juneteenth (June 19) is celebrated as the day on which word that slavery had been abolished reached the farthest western point in the United States (Galveston, Texas) in 1865. Gov.
