Hey ya'll!
Today, I am talking about getting of a spirit of competition.
Its cool to compete when you are playing a sport but not when you are dealing with people in day to day life. I would like to start off by defining what it means to complete - "strive to gain or win something by defeating or establishing superiority over others who are trying to do the same." Basically, competition looks like trying to one up someone or feeling inadequate when you are looking at other people. A good way to get over a spirit of competition is to collaborate with others. The dictionary defines collaborating as "working jointly on an activity especially to produce or create something." I try to encourage my students to collaborate with their classmates as this is necessary to do in the workforce. It is also necessary when we are dealing with other people.
In addition to sharing my personal experience, I am sharing five nuggets on how to get over a spirit of competition. And to give you a hint, one involves being honest with God and the other one involves helping others. But you will have to listen to this episode to hear more about this.
Do you deal with a spirit of competition? What helps you when you notice that you are comparing yourself to others?
