Mark Clague, PhD, U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance associate dean for collaborations and partnerships, professor of musicology, and director of the U-M Gershwin Initiative discusses his research on music in the United States and how music has shaped ideas about the US. He details his work to understand the history of the "Star-Spangled Banner" and talks about his book, "O Say Can You Hear?" which is a cultural biography of the "Star-Spangled Banner."
