As a young child, Andrew Bulczynski and his family fled from Poland to Austria as refugees. After many stops, they settled in Toronto, Canada. He first became a dentist, but later switched into orthopedic surgery. A runner and skier, he trained in Lake Tahoe then settled in Los Angeles. He felt DISC in Marina del Rey matched his own philosophy of treatment: minimally invasive surgical techniques, using the minimum procedure that would be effective, keeping surgery as a last resort. He educates his patients to be a partner in their treatments, helping to choose their own best option. He believes doing a rotator cuff surgery without doing physical therapy is asking for failure. He ended, saying, “What an amazing country this is, that a boy from a small town in Poland could end up living in Malibu.”
