Without Gidget, there is no Point Break and that's not a world I want to live in. Matt Storrs knows a considerable amount about the history of gidgets (the 1950s "Gadgets for Girls!"). Jennifer Glick (@glickjen) broadens Matt's understanding by detailing the history of the book and movie character. Was Gidget the first female James Bond? Kind of, yes. There's a direct line from Gidget to the surf culture we so cherish today. Frederick Kohner created the character (based on his teenaged daughter, Kathy).
