It’s not the same (2023)
I’ve been a weekly listener for over 6 years now. I don’t have and don’t want children but wanted to learn more about the personal side of IVF to help me work with my patients (I am a genetic counselor). I’ve enjoyed the show for years, but recently this show has turned into 80% parenting podcast, 10% Disney and other irrelevant crap, and only about 10% fertility/IVF content. The latest episode (4/10/23) has absolutely ZERO content related to infertility. I’m very bored and sad to say this, but the time has finally come to stop listening. Hopefully they will get back to the original purpose of the show or maybe just start a new show that is made for parenting and not masquerading as an IVF podcast.

Not just about IVF
Great podcast. I love Matt and Doree’s banter. It’s not just about IVF- lots of good convo about life/parenting. Highly recommend.

This podcast made me a better, more compassionate person
There are a lot of people who listen to this podcast who have no connection to IVF, and I'm one of them. I love Matt and Doree's realness; listening to them talk about their daily lives, while so different from mine, helps me know I'm not alone, not to mention hearing from all the listeners too. As to how it's made me a better person, I find myself far more compassionate toward people who struggle with infertility, which was not a problem I'd ever thought about before (not wanting kids myself), as well as young mothers and even kids. Not to say that I was cold or intolerant before, I'd just never had need to think about people in these positions. The other day I went to visit my friend with a new baby and felt I could understand better how hard it all must have been, from pregnancy to now daily life with an infant, and with all that in mind I even enjoyed holding the baby more than I ever had. I've never had a dog so also have learned a lot about taking care of dogs! I love podcasts where people talk about their daily lives and true feelings, and feel honored that Matt and Doree let us share their struggles and successes.

Love Doree….Matt on the other hand
The longer I listen, the more annoyed I am that Matt is not very nice to Doree. He’s self-centered, insensitive, and doesn’t seem to care about Doree’s feelings.

Newly obsessed
Found this podcast from Death Sex & Money and am now listening from the beginning (21 episodes in a weekend)! Although I don’t plan to have kids, I’m learning a lot and love Matt & Doree’s dynamic. Only 200+ episodes to go!

Just what I needed
Found this pod from Death, Sex and Monday and am now obsessed. Just want I needed as we continue our IVF adventure!

Mostly endless chatter
This is like 90% endless chatter about literally nothing and 10% IVF. Not interesting. Had to delete podcast from my library.

God, this is depressing.
That this podcast has a five star rating is incomprehensible to me. There must be a whole lot of people out there who enjoy listening to the demise of a marriage in real time. I do not see why else you’d choose to listen to two people with such contempt for each other bicker for an hour a week. Perhaps if you’ve been on this journey with them since the beginning you’d stick around out of habit or morbid curiosity, but Doree’s chronic negativity and now her superior attitude about parenting plus Matt’s evasiveness and emotional immaturity are a toxic combination.

Hard to listen to sometimes
I used to like the podcast but I find it hard to listen to Matt, who is soo passive aggressive to Doree. He never wants anything to be his fault so he agrees with her while constantly complaining and making himself a victim. He honestly feels like a toxic person and I don’t get why Doree is with him. I don’t get why they are still talking about another round of IVF when Doree is pushing 44 and Matt has like zero sperm, their chance is like less than 2%...Also aren’t they in a bunch of debt? hearing the way they spend money is triggering, they are so clueless. Please don’t put the abnormal embryo in, they cannot handle a special needs child.

Love it
I’m so glad they’ve shared their lives with us, I love their banter and their honesty. No couple is perfect and I appreciate that they keep it real. Fingers crossed for baby 2!

Yikes.
These two should 100% not be married, let alone have another child. The contempt in their voices is SO uncomfortable.

The best
After listening to F35 podcast for over a year I decided to try out this show. I love the banter between Doree & Matt and how they just keep it real. Very relatable to anyone with a young child or someone trying for a baby.

Mixed about the current show
I have been a listener for a few years, and really liked it in the beginning. Understanding the struggles of infertility and hearing it from another’s perspective how crappy it can be to go through sometimes and validated feelings and experiences. But recently, it seems like the infertility and parenting situations they talk about aren’t relatable at all. Not everyone has a nanny and the ability to go to special classes with baby. And it’s honestly hard to listen to the conversations of Doree seemingly “making” Matt go through another round of IVF when he seems to blatantly not want a second child. I actually recently wrote into the show giving advice and a book recommendation for couples who were in the same situation as myself and my husband. After reading my email on the show, there were certain comments made by Doree (saying a disclaimer that my book rec was “heteronormative”) that honestly made me feel bad for writing in and telling my story or recommending a book at all. We are a heterosexual couple and we went through something with fertility...and were recommended a book...which we, in turn, recommended. I wasn’t being offensive to same sex couples, I was literally giving a book recommendation for those in our same situation. If you want a podcast that encourages people to write in, different scenarios will be shared. While I do hope the best for Matt and Doree, I am debating about listening to the podcast any further.

Yikes
Do they even like each other? I’ve been slogging through episodes out of habit, telling myself it’s not that bad. It used to be a good podcast! But as time goes on, it feels like Matt is always always being passive aggressive and nasty toward Doree, who is currently making Matt undergo IVF to have a second child he...literally says he doesn’t want? What is happening? It’s really not enjoyable to listen to them griping and snipping at each other constantly, and the idea that they might bring a second child into this marriage is so sad.

Matt and Doree are the best!!! I’ve been listening since the beginning and it’s the only podcast I’ve kept up with since quarantine started in March!!!

My favorite podcast
Matt and Doree got me through early infertility struggles, then IVF, then pregnancy. I love this couple!

Love these guys
Found this podcast years ago after our first failed round of IVF. It was like a breath of fresh air. I didn’t know hardly anyone IRL who had gone through similar infertility struggles. Still entertaining years (and babies) later.

Love Doree, Matt, Henry and Beau!
I started listening to learn more about the science of IVF as I am a science nerd. I stayed because Matt’s and Doree are adorable and I was compelled to learn more about their journey to parenthood. Love listening every Monday morning!

Love these guys!
I started listening as I was entering the world of IVF in hopes of learning more about it, and am still listening because they’re basically now my BFF’s that I’ve never actually met 😆. I look forward to my Monday morning commutes just to get my weekly Matt/Doree/Henry/Beau updates. They are funny, have great banter, and I actually learned SO MUCH about IVF/infertility, and now navigating through life as a first time mom!

I want to be friends with them!
I stumbled upon the podcast when Matt & Doreen we’re being interviewed by the pod Committed. They sounded so fun and upbeat, mostly, their relationship seems so true blue. I’m always bothered when couples decide to have children before knowing each other well. Although they didn’t have a long courtship, they just knew they were right for parenthood. They make each other laugh and aren’t easily offended by the other. This reminds me of my husband and I. We’ve been parents 19 years and still crack each other up and are each other’s best friend. Take a listen, you won’t go wrong. It’s like slipping into your favorite pair of jeans.

Mixed feelings on this one
Obviously I have some love for this podcast because I made it through two seasons. Their candor about the stressors of IVF was fantastic. And I loved the resource sharing amongst callers and emailers. However the husband Matt seems to oscillate between being a supportive + compelling guy, and completely passing off his wife’s needs and emotions as not worth his time to understand. This intermittent lazy humor and subtle passive misogyny was a bummer, and as a lesbian it honestly had me wondering if this is as good as it gets for straight women 😬. Hope not! On the other hand I really liked the other host Doree, up until she got pregnant and started acting super judge-y of other parents, saying things like “if you never put baby in a swing they’ll just learn to sleep on their own in a crib!” Ha. Haha. Hahahahaha haha. As if thousands of people hadn’t tried that. JFC. I was so excited for them when they got pregnant that I cried, but when the smug parenting advice began, I stopped listening.

So slow
Not sure how this is so highly rated, I really really tried to like it. After listening to another pod cast from the uk, that was amazing, I really wanted to find a US pod cast that I like, but this is just so slow (long pauses, stupid jokes, random info no one cares about) and lacking information that I have to stop. Happy that they eventually got pregnant, but listening was torture for me.

Love the show
I'm a 70 yr. old retired R.N. I LOVE THE SHOW. BUT, IN REALITY IT IS NOT A "show", it is a story of 2, very much in love, people desperately trying to have a child. I love the Instagram pics of that precious child! I enjoy it so much that I have started the story again. It makes me smile knowing the end of the story. I listen to it every night While I fall asleep. Thank you.

Mixed
I very much enjoyed this podcast and listened from the beginning up until a few episodes past Henry’s birth. If you are struggling with fertility, or know someone who or has, I definitely recommend it as a resource- up to a point. After the baby is born, I expected the show to end- mostly because Doree said multiple times she didn’t want to do a parenting podcast. As much as I enjoyed hearing their journey, and was very happy when Doree got pregnant- am not interested in a parenting podcast. On another note, as the show went on, it became increasingly evident that Doree is a fairly entitled person who does not recognize her privilege. Marriage and relationships aren’t easy, and of course infertility isn’t easy - but the constant griping got really old and I found myself being annoyed at her most episodes. Reminded me of When Harry Met Sally- someone high maintenance who thinks they are low maintenance. All that said- I do recommend the IVF/pregnancy episodes if you’ve gone through or are going through infertility, as there is a lot of good information throughout the podcast.

Writing in
I look forward to listening every week. However, they encourage people to write in and each time I have written in they have made me feel bad about doing so. I won’t write in any more.

Thank you :)
Just got through my first round of IVF and this podcast has saved my sanity. I’m so grateful to both of you for being so candid, sharing your experience and making me laugh during this hellish process. I’ve binged the first 10 episodes the past couple days, but got a spoiler when I subscribed and saw you conceived :) So happy for you two and wishing you all the best!

Why the high rating??
Just listened to episode 75. Couldn’t stand the fact that Doree refused to share house chores and her reason to not do certain things (grocery shopping) was because Matt “likes” do them and she’s “bad at it”. Grow up. We all have to do things we don’t like. From what I recall, Matt was slammed with work for the last 6 months and still she expected him to go grocery shopping?? That’s ridiculous. If I were Matt, I would be annoyed as hell. And also, I don’t understand if you’re all in so much debt, why are u driving a Volvo XC90? And why does Beau go to doggy daycare? It seems to me you guys need a lesson in financial planning. IVF is expensive and still you all spend lavishly. I just don’t get it. Sounds like a bratty spoiled brat complaining about how bad she has it.

As someone struggling with fertility (I hate the i word) this podcast is a breath of fresh air. I love their irreverence and humor. Thanks for putting this great work forward.

Thank you for this podcast!
I am so grateful to have found this podcast. I started listening in 2019 and found it incredibly comforting, informative and helpful. I hope others wanting to learn more about IFV will find it and get as much out of it as I have!

Verrrrry slow
Is it just me or do the hosts talk sooooo slowly and take the longest pauses? Unfortunately this put me to sleep. I wish them all the best on their journey though.

Great resource for infertility and an awesome community of listeners. I love the transparency of their relationship. Matt’s hilarious and their banter is entertaining (unless you don’t have a sense of humor). 😉

Listener from the beginning, had to unsubscribe
I used to love this podcast, listened from the beginning, but the last several months have become nothing but bickering, whining, and complaining! Finally had to turn it off mid-episode and unsubscribe. This could be a wonderful resource and support for couples trying to conceive if they go back to their roots.

Grating and depressing
I love Doree’s podcast with Kate Spencer, and listening to this - which I have off and on for years - has just gotten to be too grating, although I am invested in their journey. Do they respect, love, or even like each other? I’m not sure. I’m increasingly shocked that they post these considering the way they treat each other. Poor Doree. Matt needs to grow up and be an adult. They have a child on the way! I can’t fathom what’s going to happen once it’s born 😬😬 it’s like a car crash you can’t look away from!

Two People Who Fell Out of Love
Do you want to listen to a married couple who have fallen out of love with each other, bicker over guitars and clutter, well you’ve found the right podcast. Listen as Dorree cherry picks emails to read to Matt trying to convince him that her wants are more important than his. If that’s not selling it enough to you, you can listen to Matt throw passive aggressive comments Dorees way 90% of the time. Enjoy!

Wonderful community!
I’ve been listening to Matt and Doree’s podcast since the very beginning while going through my own IVF cycle. It was so helpful and really felt like such a great community of “Eggheads”! Also check out their Facebook groups if you’re going through infertility! I’m still hooked every week even after have completed our IVF journey (for now...) we have a 6 month old. Still rooting for their success!

There's ... a LOT to unpack here
I started F35 about a year ago, loved it, but found myself increasingly questioning Matt's behavior (that I only heard about through Doree, obviously) because his actions as described by Doree came across as self-absorbed, unhelpful and often downright rude. Throughout the listening experience I was in the loop re: Doree's pregnancy but never listened to this one. After finally jumping over it became clear to me that Matt is exactly the type of person you'd think he'd be, and I am scratching my head trying to figure out why, exactly, they chose to doggedly pursue having a child together, as Matt seems completely disinterested & Doree's not unrealistic expectations are likely to be completely ignored. In short, they're a freakin' train wreck. Good luck to them both, but jesus.
