The beginning of a new chapter! The Māori in Engineering podcast is now in the hands of Mia Tamahori and Amani Tilialo. In this episode, Alyce interviews them about who they are and their goals for the podcast kaupapa. Mia Tamahori (Ngāti Porou) and Amani Tilialo (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Hine) are currently studying Engineering at Waipapa Taumata Rau, the University of Auckland. Mia is a fourth year student studying a conjoint in Civil Engineering and Māori Studies, and is passionate about incorporating Te Ao Māori into engineering practice. Amani is a second year student studying Computer Systems Engineering, interested in expanding his perspectives on the engineering industry. Alyce started this podcast back in 2021 while she was studying engineering, so it is only fitting to pass it on to this awesome duo who are now, like she was, navigating study while being curious about learning about those in the engineering world. Their vision for this podcast is to continue to uphold its mana, empowering tauira Māori to exceed expectations, and consider engineering as a pathway forward.
