Emily founded her blog Pretty Normal Me in 2014, in her words, after basically looking at life around her and asking: what the hell?! Despite being an inherently very happy person, she felt surrounded by a world that was against her: a world that forces us into clothes that makes us cry, a world that objectifies women and a world that seems to body shame us at every opportunity. So she did the only thing she knew how to do: she wrote. Those musings became a blog, and later a podcast, and now Emily’s debut book ‘Can I Speak To Someone In Charge’ has just hit book stores nationwide.
Growing up with a famous father and the media spotlight upon her made her online journey harder than most, with Emily experiencing trolls and criticism at every turn. However, she’s turned those negative experiences and teenage anxieties into a positive force and an incessant need to help others.
