The Korea-Japan Treaty, formally known as the "Treaty on Basic Relations between Japan and the Republic of Korea," was an agreement established in 1965 to normalize diplomatic relations between South Korea and Japan. We examine the signifance of the treaty and the reasons why it continues to be criticized today.
