The value of healthcare in modern society - Dr Anant Jani
Welcome to Maa's the Word!Today we are joined by Dr Anant Jani who is an Oxford Martin Fellow at the University of Oxford and a visiting researcher at the Heidelberg Institute for Global Health. Tune is as he discusses how healthcare systems can be redesigned to focus more on social determinants of health through value-based healthcare delivery models.This is where we hear a first hand account of Dr Anant Jani's journey across the globe from working with farmers in Mexico to Siberia and the structural issues in fair trade. He also toys with the idea of mobile banking in countries where load shedding is the norm and access to the internet a luxury. Dr Jani questions the very presence of healthcare systems, not only in the UK but internationally.Prior to his academic positions, Anant was Executive Director at Better Value Healthcare, a boutique advisory firm that worked with healthcare systems in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Southeast Asia to help them redesign their healthcare systems to focus more on value based healthcare.
