The Los Angeles Angels do not currently have a starter who has pitched more than 180 innings in a season. With the absence of Shohei Ohtani in this rotation, the Halos will likely move to a 5-man rotation, meaning that each starter will have to step up in a big way in 2024. So, can they do it? We'll take a look at pitchers who reached 200 innings and what year they've done it and if the young starters can do it in segment 1!
Then, we'll take a look at the career highs of each Angels starting pitcher and their projected innings pitched over a 162-game season. Will that be enough to cover the 977 or so innings that starters would need to pitch? We'll dive into the numbers and ask the question, can these starters take a step forward with 5-6 more starts and possibly 35 more innings? We'll discuss it in segment 2!
Plus, which free-agent starting pitchers are available to help the Halos cover the innings need? There are certainly big arms out there, in addition to possible minor-league deals that could support the starting 5. We'll take a look at the options in segment 3!
