A juicy episode on the main feed this week discussing the transgender undertones of John Early’s Maddie’s Secret.

Love the free episode? You’re only getting half the story! Head to patreon.com/likeavirgin for twice-monthly bonus episodes.

On this week’s free episode we discuss:

• How to enjoy John Early’s Maddie’s Secret when some of its comedic sensibility rests on a man dressed as a woman.
• The influences and precarious precedent of Maddie’s Secret’s “gender comedy”: Oh! Mary, Madea, Big Momma’s House, Mrs. Doubtfire, John Waters, Tootsie, The Birdcage, White Chicks, and more.
• The grotesque soullessness of the Avengers: Doomsday trailer
• The resounding disappointment of The Vampire Lestat
• The bloodlust of Project Runway’s 78th season.

• Homework: Everyone go see Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey in time for next week’s discussion.
