Nike was founded in 1964 by Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman under the name "Blue Ribbon Sports," but it wasn't until the launch of their first signature shoe, the Nike Cortez, in 1972 that they began to establish a real foothold in the industry. From there, Nike's success only continued to grow, with a little help from one of the most iconic athletes of all time: Michael Jordan.
