Every person has an internal personal codebook of standards, ethics, preference, and perspective. Each codebook is uniquely shaped by our individual life experience and makeup and most often, we don’t even realize we have one. When it comes to relationships, we usually naturally assume that other people have the same codebook as we do…but they never do. This can easily create relational conflict and discomfort and cause breaks in connection big and small. In this episode, we’re explaining personal codebooks, how to recognize them, and how to navigate them with the people closest to us with the goal of optimal relational health.
