This week the #LetMeSipPod team start with a look at the recent Ashanti / Keisha Cole Verzuz Battle 🎤 We also debate the prospect of an Usher/Chris Brown battle or the late Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Taking lead from Anthony Joshua's post 🥊 we ask would you stop engaging in someone’s product/content because of something they do in their personal life? Can you get past the allegation/reputation of a public figure such as R. Kelly or Michael Jackson Following the suspension of popular moderator Ashley Louise from Clubhouse we ask can you separate the personality of the influencer/creator from the content they create? Or do they sign up to this by making their truth/personality their product? Later in the episode we look at free speech 🆓️🗣 and censorship. From governments shutting down their public's internet to crackdowns on social media trolls abusing footballers 🤬 we question what free speech really means? Is it subjective and if so what should be its limitations? We ask is cancel culture going too far? How do we justify the de-platforming of personalities 🚷 Who makes the standards? And what happens when they change? Are there alternatives to censoring such as community policing, commercial hits or boycotting and divestments?
