In the early episodes of Heated Rivalry, we see a very covert representation of both Shane and Ilya's individual attachment styles shaping their behavior toward each other and those around them. These attachment styles would be informed by their differing childhoods and inform their communication. In this episode, we discuss my interpretation of their attachment styles, how they differ from one another, and how they both allow each other to move towards a more secure attachment by the end of season one.

*I’m not a therapist, but I enjoy thinking about how characters might reflect different attachment patterns. This is more of a thought experiment than a clinical observation, and my way of exploring human behavior through stories.
