Fun Look Back at JLI and JLE Comics
You can hear the love of JLI Bwah-Ha-Ha years from Shag and his guest co-hosts in every episode. It’s great to relive these stories of superheroes having fun compared to today’s too DARK superheroes. The podcast always gives me a new perspective on a book that I have forgotten many of the details of since I’ve been following the JL since the early 1970s. It’s been great rereading these stories and listening to this great podcast. I’m looking forward to the episodes still to come. Thanks Shag and friends.

Like seeing old friends again
I’ve loved the JLI since I first pulled them all out of the back issue bin at my local comic book shop in the winter in 1992. This podcast has given me the great opportunity to read an issue a day, then follow it up with thee corresponding podcast episode.
I can’t wait to get to the Justice League Antarctica episode!
Thanks for a great podcast.

Great stuff
I came into this podcast a few years in and I’m now catching up on old episodes. So good

Nostalgia!
The Irredeemable Shag comes close to redeeming himself through this great podcast. Despite what all his guest hosts say, Shag has great taste in comics and puts on an excellent podcast. I need a snorkel to swim through all the nostalgic memories I experience listening; this was my favorite DC comic in my favorite era of DC Comics. I first picked up JLI with issue 4 and hung on through Breakdowns and I enjoy living these issues again with Shag and the motley collection of degenerates he invites as co-hosts.

Lifetime Validation
I came across this podcast about 3 months ago and started on episode one and caught up, now I feel like I can leave my review. Shag and company have validated my love for the JLI with this podcast. My relationship with the JLI has lasted almost as long as I have been alive. My family owned a business on our towns square and when I would get bored my dad would send me to the local newsstand shop to kill time. I the back corner of the newsstand was a large selection of comics next to an old glass bottle coke machine. I would buy a coke and sit and read comics for hours. My favorite comic,hands-down, was the JLI. I didn’t get all the jokes but I loved everything about it. In the years since I have always held a soft spot for the bwahahaha version of the league and defended the likes of Blue Beetle, Mr. Miracle, Rocket Red, and yes Guys Gardner. Now with the existence of this podcast I feel like I have a community of like minded readers. Yeah I like JLI... Wanna make something of it?

A great find!
I just discovered this podcast by accident today and I'm so jazzed to listen to the series! I first encountered this incarnation of the Justice League when I started college in 1991. One of my new friends in the dorm had a copy of Justice League A New Beginning tpb. (until that, the only issues I had read were the annuals that were part of Armageddon 2001) As I read the then-current series (Justice League Spectacular-on) I made a point of collecting the back issues. The Embassy and the League relationships in it was very similar to my dorm and the relationships between my dorm-mates and myself.

Irredeemable Shag—Praise Be your name sir
Shag is doing the “Maxwell” Lord’s work by showcasing the “Giffen/DeMatteis/Maguire & others” era of the Justice League. Shag delivers a PERFECT show with fun segments, hilarious promos & AWESOME guests!!! It’s great to hear about other people’s experience with the JLI. I just wish we could clone Shag & have him cover the whole 80s DC Universe. Seriously the man’s passion & excitement is second to none. I would say he’s the “Gerry Conway/Geoff Johns” of DC podcasts, I personally want him on everything.

Wish I enjoyed it more
As much as I like the content that they are reviewing, the jabbing banter of the hosts is needlessly abrasive, and reminds me of how little I liked most of the “dude-bro” interactions of the bwahaha run. The host also asks every guest who their favorite JLA’ers were during this period, and the answers are invariably the same.

Keeps getting better and better, like The One Punch!!
This shows keeps getting better and better, great work to a truly International team that’s been assembled. Just like The One Punch (cue sound effects), it’s worth going back and checking these issues out. Great trip back in time!!!

My favorite comic and new favorite podcast
I stumbled upon this a few months ago and couldn’t be happier. The whole fire and water podcast network is awesome but this was my first foray into the network. The host loves the material, the different co-hosts offer good insight, and I’m learning new stuff about the material I love. I look forward to each month when this is released. If you like justice league than you need to listen to this. If you love JLI, then you already are. While I’m here, my JLI and comic origin. My first superhero comic was Justice League Europe 41. I was reading Archie comics before that and sometime in 1992 my dad finally convinced me to pick this up on a spinner rack in an airport. From there I was hooked and luckily DC was teeing up the Death of Superman and within weeks I was watching these new characters be decimated. And I was hooked as I read forward in an era of Justice League that many don’t love, I was falling head over heels. And at the same time I was back issue diving. One Xmas, I received the entire Breakdowns crossover from my dad. He had spent the last few months flipping through comics on the streets (NYC used to sell comics on the streets) searching for the complete run of the Breakdown story. I still remember that Xmas and wanting to read it right then. A few years back I gave my dad for his birthday issue 41 if justice league Europe that he had bought me back in 1992. And recently I learned my dad’s favorite hero growing up was Aquaman!!

An issue by issue examination of one of the most unique (and best) superhero team books ever published. Back in the day, I read every issue from number one through thirtysomething. I'm enjoying remembering the issues that I read thirty years ago and I'm really looking forward to hearing about the ones that came out after I bailed. Excellent work Shag!

I finally have listened to all your podcasts to date with JLI. I enjoy listening to it as I work. It brings back memories of having bought the whole series when they were originally released. I wish that more of this type of characterization was done. I look forward to listening ot the rest of the series.

Doing the league justice
Shag has taken on the herculean task of running monitor duty for all things JLI/Bwahaha/JL/JLE/Maguie/Giffen/Demattias/Humor era Justice League.
I discovered the show due to my love of this series which may be my favorite series all time! This acted like a gateway drug into the entire Fire and Water podcast network - which is amazing - and was so thankful someone had taken this job on to give this run an extra level of credit and introspective look back. Shag is a great host combing knowledge and humor and bringing in expert rotating guest hosts who provide the same. You will also get great recomendations to great trades from sponsor partners and other podcasts and blogs.
Everything drops for me when a new episode hits like a great big ONE PUNCH from the podcasting gods and hope you will agree!

When Superheroes are People, Too
This podcasts highlights a time when the preeminent super team of the DC universe wasn't just about saving the world every week, but also did a deep dive into the interpersonal relationships, trials, and conflicts within the team itself, and did so with a sense of humor and a wink at the audience, reminding us all not to take things too seriously.
Shag is the perfect host for such a podcast, infusing the proceedings with humor derived from the interplay between himself and whatever co-host he manages to trick into joining him that month. If you like your super hero comedy with a side of mild banter, this is the podcast for you.

So much fun
Come for the JLI and stay for the hosts. This show reviews a fun series and does so with so much joy that it will remind you why you love comics to begin with. A must listen. It sits in my feed for mere minutes before I start to listen. Great work!

Simply put...
This splendiferous podcast is a phenomenal panoply of a fervent penchant for 1980s nostalgia and an ebullient predilection for the comic book characters, as well as their creators and their craft. Each episode is a tour de force of anamnesis par excellence – a merriment of brobdingnagian proportions that is astonishingly permeated with a preponderance of sagacious insights. And even on the sporadic yet fleeting occasions of commiseration on disparaged absurdities or inane palaver (every podcast undergoes such experiences now and then) this program maintains a constant state of unadulterated anoesis in my mind for the duration.
Because the eminent Mister Matthews graciously recites all iTunes reviews in their entirety as an expression of his immeasurable gratitude, it must be promulgated that the very savvy and uproarious Mister Matthews and his perspicacious visitants comport a bona fide sycophancy for the material amidst their boisterous badinage. This ingenious auditory exhibition is sporadically accentuated with commensurate quantities of piquant persiflage and rousing repartee – and intermittently with fittingly banal frivolity – immersed in a presentation that is theatrical yet bears no resemblance to an overture of spurious, ostentatious or meretricious maudlinism associated with other “fanboy” podcasts.

I Can't be BLUE Because this Podcast is GOLD!
I love the podcast and reminiscing about my favorite incarnation of the League. I've been listening to Shag since the first 'Bwah-ha-hah.' This JLI podcast was something older fans like me didn't know we needed until it was there.
It's also steered me towards other titles both old and new. Entertaining AND functional!

Shag Tastic!
Been listening to the Fire and Water Network for close to a year but I have to say the JLI podcast is my favorite one. Sorry it has taken that long for me to post my review!
The guests are all great and I guess Shag is ok. Aw....who am I kidding? Shag is a great host and his enthusiasm for the material has me enjoying rereading the issue before I listen to the podcast. These are some great comics and it is great to have a fun way to experience them again.
Thanks! Keep up the great work!

Since Shag has some compromising photos, I want to take a moment to praise the show... though, Shag's subtle motivation isn't neccessary, since I love the show.
This was a great comic, and it is shown a LOT of love, and deservedly so. This is a truly fun, and slickly produced show, and it has become a must-listen for me.

For glory
If you want to hear someone talk about a fictional group of people working together to save the planet this is probably the podcast for you.
If you want to help save the planet yourself you can go vegetarian or volunteer for groups such as
Bat Conservation international because of Batman, Audubon for Black Canary, the xerces society for blue beetle, Worldwatch institute more for skeets than booster gold, Bellona-St. Petersburg for Rocket Red, and WWF's save the Tigers Now for Captain Marvel.
But if you want to hand the planet over to interstellar warring factions then there are many things you can do for the glory of the sontaran empire. The Glorious Sontaran empire will take recruits from wherever they come in the fight against the rutans.

A great look back!
Comic-reading kids today should listen to this show to gain an appreciation for the 30-year-old comics that their dads and weird uncles read back in the day. New fans of the JLA should take a look at this era of the team. This podcast is a great way to fall in love with the JLI!

JLI Podcast. Man this is the stuff!!
The Irredeemable Shagg and his rotating guest hosts have done the impossible. They've made the Giffen/DeMatteis Justice League even more enjoyable than they were originally. Which is no mean feat considering Their Justice League was the best book (except for the Superman books)to come out of the post crisis DC. The love Shagg and his guests have for these stories comes through loud and clear. Between the "witty banter " and perverse innuendo you can't stop listening. Really Shagg and his guests are the best at what they do and these JLI stories were the best of their kind. Listen and enjoy!!

Gateway Drug
JLI Bwahaha Podcast was my gateway drug into the podcast world. Sure, I'd seen the cool kids with their headphones & their smart devices, but I was a good clean citizen. Then I found out there was a podcast about my favorite comic ever: JLI. Shagg does such an amazing job with this show, I soon found myself fiending for episode after episode, needing my fix. I sold all my worldly possessions to get just one more download...until I discovered they were free...and not just JLI either...I started in on the hard stuff: all the other Fire & Water Network podcasts. Sure, my family left me & I'm typing this as I huddle in a closet at the rehab center, hoping the orderlies don't find me, but I do so love the JLI Podcast & the fun, exciting adventure each episode takes me on.

Finally... The podcast I've been waiting for!
The mid to late 80s were for me and my comic reading the Camelot years... and Justice League was a huge part of it. I am a little late to the game as I have just discovered the Fire and Water podcast network, which led to my discovery of this podcast, but your humor and thoroughness in your coverage is a complete joy to listen to! Thank you!

It is being my pleassure to listen to this
I have been soooo looking forward to listening to these. I try to get them as soon as they come out each month. Really enjoyed hearing about the origin of Bwah-Ha-HA, though I remember that book so well and knew that event is what started it all. This is really a very enjoyable show and Shag provides a great snapshot of where the DC Universe was back in the day. Shag is an awsome host with the perfect face for radio.

Never interested until now
I was never interested in the JLI comic but after hearing about this podcast through the Fire and Water Podcast I gave it a listen. So glad I did. Shag and his guests are enthusiastic and informative. I've begun to appreciate this era of the Justice League. They not only discuss in detail the JLI issues, but also take time to delve into the various character's histories as well as explaining what was happening in the character's individual stories across the DCU during the JLI era. Great fun to listen to and the extra material on the website makes this podcast complete. Altogether a well made endeavor worth following. A+

Great Podcast
I was and still am a huge fan of the JLI/JLA/JLE run in the 1980's and 1990's. It was my favorite monthly book. This podcast is the perfect companion to re-reading those classics. In the 1980's comic books were starting to become more realistic and for an older reader. To many creators "realistic" meant more violent or more realistic crimes (for example instead of Batman trying to solve a riddle on a giant typewritter, he would be trying to stop a mass murder). But what the creators of JLI did was to make a more realistic comic by making the relationships between the characters true to life. Our heros laugh, cry, love, hate, fight, bicker, complement, and find ways to work together. By having characters grounded in an emotional reality the reader was free to belive in all of the amazing adventures those characters would go on.
The host of the podcast, The Irredeemable Shag, does an amazing job taking the listener back to the time and place when the comic first came out. I feel like I have gone back in time when I listen to the podcast. The synopsis and review of the issue is done in a fun, light hearted, yet very intelligent and insightful way.

Great look at a great era!
Shag has done it again! This is a great look at a superb era of the Justice League and he takes us back to the mid-1980s with a fun look at a seminal comic. Even if you don't have the issues in front of you or have never read them, you'll feel like you're there. Give it a listen; you'll love it!

Wish I could give more than 5 STARS
If you are a huge JLI fan, a Justice League (of an era) or you a newbie looking to learn about the Justice League (JLA, JLI) fan you NEED to listen to the Justice League International Bwha-Ha-Ha Podcast. Do it for any of the above reason or just because it is hosted by Shag.
This podcast has rapidly joined by top 5 (maybe even top 3) (Shag-Raging Bullets and Podcast if Oa is tough competition).
I'll be honest I haven't personally read any of these issues. But I'm now pricing the trades. Mostly (99%) because of this podcast and it's host (Shag). Thanks Shag

Shag Is Doing the Lord's Work
Funny. Insightful. Entertaining. Those are three words I'd use to describe this amazing show. Shag and his rotating stable of guest hosts are talking about one of the best series DC ever published and doing it in fine style. The show has a mix of commentary and humor with a handful of regular features that make you feel like you're in the club after only one episode. You seriously need to listen to this show!

I love this version of the Justice League. Don't get me wrong, I love the Detroit League, I love what Morrison did with the JLA, and I love me some classic Justice League of America.
But THIS version was my League. This was when I started reading comics. I started collecting in 87/88, and I came across the JLI around issue 15 or 16 or so. I had to then backtrack all the back issues and collect the entire run and all of the associated titles.
Shag and his friends (and Ryan), do an excellent job of covering this series. I can't wait for the next issue of the podcast to show up so I can listen as Shag and his newest victim... err guest, talk about the comic and other related items.
Really can't wait for issue 13 and the crossover with the Suicide Squad to see how Shag and guest handles that... BWHAHAHHAAAA
I highly recommend this podcast for fans of DC Comics, 80's comics, humor comics, action comics, or anyone with good taste.
Until next month, make mine the Bwah-ha-ha Podcast!

Just Listen Intently!
The Irredeemable Shag has embarked on a 5 year mission to cover the Giffen/Demateiss era of the JLI, boldly podcasting where no man has podcasted before. I for one hope he isn't cancelled 3 years out like the Star Trek analogy I'm running with here. Being he has a proven track record of being involved with great shows, and he is going to be aided by a different co-host each episode which will keep it fresh, I'm confident he will accomplish his mission. Each episode has great segments (like a character spotlight and listener feedback), and there will be fun detours along the way as he plans to cover JLI related appearances in other comics and media in addition to the core books. He has put a lot of thought into how to make this highly entertaining, and has a rabid fervor for the source material. I look forward to exploring this era, and I couldn't ask for a better captain!

The Good Ol' JLI
The JLI holds a special place in my heart but you'd be surprised how often people dismiss or degrade this incarnation of the Justice League. Shag cuts through all the BS about what others have said and shares his joy of the JLI with this wonderful podcast. He and a guest host go issue by issue and share everything that's amazing and fun about this run of comics. If you like the JLI, have a passing interest in DC Comics from the 80's or just love listening to people talk about something they love then by all means give this podcast a listen.
