Show notes

The attorney and podcaster Charles Star joins us from Brooklyn to discuss the first Star Wars theatrical release in 7 years, Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian and Grogu, featuring Pedro Pascal and Grogu as himself in his big screen debut.

The film itself wasn’t as captivating to us as the mysteries around the release: why did Disney turn a planned fourth season of their streaming series The Mandalorian into a 2 hour movie for theatres instead? Why does it still feel like a tv show even on the big screen? Why were Grogu garlic chicken fries on the menu at Burger King? Do kids still even care about Star Wars at this point?  And why are the online jokes about killing Grogu so funny? Charles and I go to Riff City trying to answer these questions.
