Listen to this
Truly awe inspiring and moving. No matter what’s happening in your life this is a precious reminder to never take your time for granted. I wish there was more to listen to, but it’s almost poetic how short the series was. Thank you for sharing Julie, may you RIP.

Just lovely
This podcast, and Julie herself, will always have a special place in my heart now. I lost one of my best friends to cancer last year, and hearing Julie’s experience, in her own words, helped me process my own loss. I know that death is not final. And that’s such a comfort.

Short, sweet, & undeniably moving
If you were a fan of the last memoir you will love this podcast. My only complaint is that there wasn’t more to listen to! Julie’s story is compelling, moving and raw. Worth the listen!

Awe inspiring
What an amazing story. There really aren’t words sufficient enough to express how amazing this podcast, Julie, and her family are. Julie is a hero and what a blessing it is that she had the foresight to record and share her journey.

Brilliant, funny, profound take on the end of life
I listened to this entire series in one evening: I was touched and completely absorbed. This podcast does the most brilliant job of weaving together Julie's voice, and her unusual, matter-of-fact, urgent way of addressing the end of her life, with the voices of her friends and family. It's more inspiring than sad: how a creative mind documented and approached this challenge and left us all a gift.

Excited about this podcast
My husband died one month ago of stage IV colon cancer at the age of 49 and just like Julie we have small children. I was browsing the top charts and bumped into this podcast. Just finished episode 1 and I’m super excited about the remaining episodes. Josh if you’re reading this and if you need to talk to someone that has been through the same you can contact me!

Profound
This show is so profound and beautiful. I love Julie’s perspective on death and the idea that something so painful can also be wondrous and exciting. I love the way she embraces the inevitable and takes life on her own terms. I think it’s a lesson everyone could use

An honest time capsule of death
Funny, tear-jerking, and just enough context to get you to fall in love. Can’t wait to read Julie’s book.

Emotional, touching, raw
This had me crying on the way to work, but it was beautiful. Such an intimate look at what we will all eventually experience one day: death. I can only hope I leave such an imprint on my friends and family when I am gone.

Great Story, Bad Music
I am on the second episode and so far the story is easy to follow and entertaining. The only thing that stops me from giving this 5 stars is the music they are using. I think better music would definitely elevate the podcast as a whole and let the listener focus more on the story instead of how bad the music is.

Grateful
Like Julie, my mother died at a young age, thirty-seven, of cancer. While listening to Julie’s clarity surrounding her death and what it would mean for her daughters, I felt like I was hearing similar thoughts to those my mother might have had. Not only will this podcast and her book always be a special way for her daughters to connect with her, but it also made me feel more connected to my mother. For that I am grateful. My wish for her family and friends is that they continue to keep her spirit alive, share memories, and notice all the signs she shows them.

Great, very human podcast
My mother just died at 58, and during that experience I could not help reflecting on how many things feel wrong about how our society expects us to live and speak dishonestly when we accompany someone to their death. The honesty about death and dying in this podcast made me feel a little regret about how I dealt with my moms death because I was shown a better example of how it can be done but also made me feel validated that my feelings were real. Thanks, Julie. Say hi to my mom.

Moving
I loved this podcast. I am a couple of years older than Julie was when she passed. I also have two young daughters. I can’t imagine how incredibly scary and painful it must have been for Julie to have to deal with this death sentence at such a young age. I loved hearing her story, her voice, and especially her laugh. Thank you for sharing your life with us, Julie.

Inspiring
I have never wrote a podcast review but needed to for this one. It is the most beautiful podcast I have ever heard. Inspiring in a way to see the world around you in a different light and to appreciate the beauty in every moment you have in this life. My mother in law has cancer right now so this definitely touched my heart. I feel this would help my husband greatly in viewing death. I believe it will help him to not fear death but to enjoy these last days we have with his mom. I will share it with her as we’ll. Well done podcast that made my cry many tears of joy with a smile. With an inspirational women and amazing wife and mother. It’s also very funny listening to her family talk about their childhood memories. Thank you for this. It has filled my heart with so much joy and love.

So beautiful and heart wrenching
There were times during the podcast where I felt her anguish in dying so young leaving behind all that you love. But listening to overcome that fear and learn how to experience it, fully and truly experience it, was so beautiful. It is so hard losing a loved one but we never really know how hard it is to die until we are there. It’s such a wonderful and insightful topic to discuss. Thank you for sharing your story Julie. I don’t think I will be able to forget your story. I hope your blast off was as beautiful as you’d hoped.

Truly wonderful.
Listening to her view and her experience with death helped me remember the time I spent with my mother and family as she passed away. She too went home after a short battle with non Hodgkin’s lymphoma. My mother wanted to die at home surrounded by family. This podcast brought back the toughest memories but also the best memories. Those final days with my mom will live with me forever. This podcast is worth a listen. Thank you for making this podcast

Julie is right
Honesty is MIA in cancer dialogues. The warrior patient is the only model on offer, and this has to change. Julie’s story is a start.

Tough but worth it
As a so far cancer survivor I greatly related to Julie’s emotions. I wept through both episodes. This is tough but worth it.

Powerful, meaningful poignant and real...
This story is just beginning, but I am so caught up in it that I was upset when I learned I had already listened to all the available episodes. I was prepared to binge listen to eight or ten episodes, to laugh and weep right along with the storytellers. I am sure I will have more to say about this podcast further down the road but I wanted to encourage listeners to give it a try. The subject matter is one that we all have to face at some point in our journey. And one of the big questions is how we will choose to face our death. Will we ignore it until illness or accident overwhelm us and we are swept away on a tide of discomfort and confusion. Or will we plan our death, talk openly about it, make our surroundings beautiful, leave notes and recordings for our loved ones and go out as conscious and aware as possible. Or is it possible that no matter what we would like that death may surprise us in our sleep, in the grocery store or on some train tracks. Who knows. But what a joy to be able to visit with a woman of vision who is trying to make the most of a difficult situation. The laughter and joy of the people around Julie who talk about her and to her is palpable. This is a great effort by some truly courageous people to give voice to our great silence - death. It is more joyous than you might think. I hope you give it a try.

Best friend
My very best friend died of colon cancer at 45. This podcast makes me wonder if my bff (Shauna) was more scared than she let on. This podcast is gripping. You cheer for Julie to hang in.. yet try to find the grace inside of you to let her go.

A must listen
This is the topic no one wants to think about, much less talk about, especially if you are a parent. This podcast is raw and honest. It’s the thoughts you never want to give voice to, but Julie does, and it’s powerful and meaningful. Really a must listen.
