This week: Film critic for The Baffler and author of The Earth Dies Streaming: Film Writing, 2002-2018, A. S. Hamrah joins me to talk about his book as well as films that tackle quagmires, enduring this last year and by the end we begin to explore if a film critic played a role in American music history. A.S. Hamrah is one of the most important voices in film criticism today and the subjects we're tackling are things that have been weighing on my mind heavily this past year. I'm very excited to share this discussion with you all. Excuse some inelegant audio transitions at the beginning because the episode is very strong. Be safe. Take care.FILMS DISCUSSED:Grapes of Wrath - 11:25Operation Filmmaker - 30:20Melancholia - 48:10Music by Jonny AmpersandContact the show Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
