A tritagonist of the early seasons of Teen Wolf, Derek appears in the show as the first other werewolf encountered by Scott McCall. Initially thought to be the one that turned him, Derek becomes a reluctant mentor to Scott after revealing the actual culprit is an Alpha that killed his sister, whom he needs Scott's help tracking down. Derek moves through various stages over his time in the show, at times an antagonist, but ultimately evolving into a reliable support figure in the supernatural goings-on of the main cast.
