Sheikh Owais Hikmat was born in Toronto, Ontario, and was raised in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and in Madinah Al-Munawwarah; residing there for over 10 years. He attended the Islamic University of Al-Madina Al-Munawwarah and studied Islamic Studies and Fiqh Jurisprudence. He also spent many years studying and memorizing the Quran with scholars in the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid An-Nabawi). Owais returned to Mississauga, Ontario to be an Imam and an active member of the community for 8 years. Owais has an educational background in Business Marketing and a Bachelors of Technology Management with a focus on Project Management and Healthcare. With over 15 years in the not-for-profit sector, Owais Hikmat currently works with Islamic Relief Canada as the Western Canada Fundraising Manager. He currently resides in Edmonton, Alberta with his wife and three children.
