Episode four: Liability. It's scary, but it doesn't have to be.
- Each week we guide aspiring inventors and product creators to bring their idea into reality. Learn valuable tips, insights and success stories from a couple guys roughing it in the field of inventing.
- A large company said, hey, you're infringing on our patent. The lesson there was, well, it was scary, but hey, I'm small. Every time things progress, you work around and patents expire. So make new products and take advantage of the fact that you're small.
- Inventor: The first step to protect yourself moving forward is product liability insurance. If you know you're going to hit the market and sell this thing, go ahead and set up your LLC or corporation.
- Don't worry about patents at all. You're in the very early stages of your business. For around $100, you can file a provisional patent. Do it down the line when you know you're going to do something with it.
- "The world is your oyster now. No one's watching you. You can do basically whatever you want in the respect of inventing in your garage, " he says. If you have doubts, definitely have a lawyer look into those things previous to that.
- One of the most important assets to have as an inventor is perseverance. liability could be something that could slow people down. We want you guys to keep moving forward, to keep thinking. Please don't forget to like this episode!
