→ Key Takeaways:
A lot of companies are very set on candidates having a degree/education, but it’s about learning to look at someone's resume and see that they’ve worked retail for 5 years or front of house in a restaurant and know how to sell or have great customer service skills. You need to be able to see what a woman can do without those letters behind her name and look beyond that.
Elevate your own networking and build contacts by putting yourself in places like the “non networking” networking approach. Maybe that’s a table at a nonprofit luncheon or happy hour at a high end restaurant downtown.
Once you land it, protect it. Let the owner/boss, whether male or female, know what you’re doing for them and their business regularly so that they see the value you're offering and it doesn’t get overlooked.
