Practice actively caring about how others are feeling and try to put yourself in their shoes. You can also read up on different experiences and cultures to help you better understand and relate to the struggles and joys of those around you. ...but how do show more empathy via text messages To show more empathy via text messages, focus on using language that conveys understanding, support, and care. Use phrases such as âIâm sorry to hear thatâ, âThat must be hardâ, or âWhat can I do to help?â. Also, try to avoid one-liners, opt for longer responses that show you are taking in and processing the other personâs thoughts. Showing support in text messaging is not always easy, but by taking the time to craft an empathetic response, you will be able to make a meaningful connection with the other person. Here are some phrases you can use to show empathy via text messages: - âI understand how you feelâ - âThat sounds really difficultâ - âI hear what youâre sayingâ - âHow can I help?â - âIâm sorry that happenedâ - âIâm here for you if you need to talkâ - âI know this must be hardâ - âLet me know if I can do anything to helpâ You could also use phrases like âI care about what youâre going throughâ, âIâm so sorry you have to go through thisâ, or âIâm honored that you shared this with meâ. These types of phrases will show that you are genuinely trying to be empathetic and support the other person in any way you can. At the end of a conversation, try to thank the other person for sharing their thoughts and feelings with you, and let them know that you are available if they need anything. You can also convey your empathetic support by saying something like âTake care of yourselfâ or âI hope you feel better soonâ. This will show that you genuinely care about their wellbeing. Conclusion: For starting a conversation, you could say something like âIâd like to hear more about thatâ or âCan you tell me more?â. These phrases will encourage the other person to open up and share their thoughts and feelings with you. For ending a conversation, you could say something like âIâm here if you need to talkâ or âTake care of yourselfâ. This will show that you care and are willing to help if they need it.
