Karin talk with Coach Joe Charleston and his article "Chasing Shiny Things"
Chasing Shiny Things
August 4, 2021
I had worked into the late hours of the night to get a report together for a 9 AM Executive Leadership Team meeting the following day. All I could think about was going to bed.
As I worked my way to bed, the thought was in my mind to read the bible. The closer I got to crawling into bed, the louder the voice rang in my ears. At one point I actually covered my head with the pillow to see if it would go away. I kept hearing “Read the Word. Read the Word”. I finally gave in. I flopped open my Bible on the night stand and there it was, James 1.
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1: 2-4
On the corner of the page, I recognized the handwriting to be penned by my ex pastor, “This is the answer to your problems”. For the next three hours I forgot my tiredness and paced the floor. I was so energized I forgot how tired I was. Sleep, NOT NOW! I want more.
Here’s what it said to me.
