(January 18, 2014) Sponsored by the University of Chicago Medicine Urban Health Initiative, Doctor Monica Peek hosted the Community Health Focus Hour on WVON (1690 AM) to discuss the South Side Diabetes Project. Her guests included Sheila Harmon, a regional manager and Certified Diabetes Educator for the ACCESS Community Health Network; Sheena Bryant, a manager of the Live Empowered initiative for the American Diabetes Association; and Pastor Torrey Barrett, executive director of the KLEO Community Family Life Center.

We aim to reduce widely documented disparities in diabetes, to increase awareness of diabetes issues, and to empower the South Side community to use its knowledge, partners and resources to combat this disease.
