Sam "Mac" McLaren and his family are only a handful of months into their Iowa City residency, but the road back to his hometown has been built on years of handling what they refer to as "life on life's terms."

Through a fractured vertebrae while playing at South Dakota and a major issues after the birth of his son Brooks, the McLaren family has dealt with tough times.
