Former B.C. Premier and former federal Liberal cabinet minister Ujjal Dosanjh examines the Bishnoi Gang's widespread presence in Canada following U.S. indictments linking the group to the assassination of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. He reflects on the evolution of South Asian organized crime since the 1980s, argues Canada's immigration screening has failed to keep pace with their murder, extortion, and drug trafficking. He also discusses how governments have responded to extremism, multiculturalism, free speech, and national security concerns. Finally, Dosanjh shares his views on Canada–India relations under Prime Minister Mark Carney and the prospects for rebuilding bilateral ties.
