Today, my guest is Jack Sheridan, a partner in the Silicon Valley office of Latham & Watkins whose practice focuses on corporate legal needs of public and private companies primarily in technology, life sciences, and retail consumer sectors. During his career, Jack has represented companies and underwriters in more than 100 public offerings raising billions of dollars of capital, more than 150 companies in successfully raising venture capital financing; and numerous public and private companies in sophisticated merger and acquisition transactions. Today my guest is Michael Jacobs, a Partner at Morrison & Foerster, who co-founded and currently co-chairs the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. He recently served as co-lead counsel in two of the most-watched intellectual property battles, including a high-profile smartphone case leading to a jury verdict of over $1 billion. He has also litigated patent and licensing disputes for the life sciences industry’s first and most successful biotechnology company. Today, my guest is Seth Zachary, the Chairman of Paul Hastings and a partner in the tax practice where he focuses on general, corporate, and real estate tax-related problems as well as foreign tax issues. Seth represents numerous corporations and investment banks in the federal, state, and local tax arenas. He is also a frequent lecturer on tax topics for the New York University Tax Institute, the Practising Law Institute, The University of Southern California as well as a part-time faculty member at NYU Law School. Today, my guest is Mike Halloran, a legendary Silicon Valley lawyer and founding Partner of Halloran, Farkas and Kattila LLP, who had spent most of his private practice career at Pillsbury Winthrop. From 2006-2008, Mike served as Counselor to the Chairman and Deputy Chief of Staff at the Securities and Exchange Commission where he advised on investor protection and capital formation and acted as the Chairman’s chief legal counsel. From 1990-1996, Mike was EVP and General Counsel for Bank of America, where he managed more than 450 employees, including 185 attorneys, and was advisor to the bank’s board and senior management. Mike was the lead author and currently lead editor of the widely used “Venture Capital & Public Offering Negotiation” (Aspen Publishers) which was initially published in 1981 and is still being updated annually. Mike holds a BS in mechanical engineering from UC Berkeley and a JD from Berkeley Law School (Boalt).
