Today on Hitting the Streets Podcast, we're uncovering a fascinating piece of Sherman's history that many people have never heard about: The Woodmen Circle Home.
The Woodmen Circle was once one of the largest women's fraternal organizations in the United States. Guided by the principles of Love, Wisdom, and Power, its members helped establish a home in Sherman that cared for orphaned children and elderly women, providing hope, dignity, and compassion to those in need.
Joining me is Melissa Carruth, whose family history research led her to uncover this nearly forgotten chapter of our community's past. Her mission is to preserve the stories of the people who lived at the home and ensure their legacy is not lost to history.
If you love local history or stories that deserve to be remembered, this is an episode you won't want to miss.
