I can't do this without thinking of my Drill Sergeant dad. He served in the Korean war and actually ended up being injured twice and had two purple hearts. He was a true warrior in defending our freedom. So that's the kind of background that I have in my life.
I can remember as a young boy, I came to him one time and said I had a headache and he'd come over and kind of gave me a hug. Then he said, and he said, “Hey, put your foot right down here.” So I put my foot over there and he stomped down on my foot. I started hopping around on one foot and said, “What'd you do that for, Dad?” and he said, “Well, you're not worried about your head hurting anymore, are you?”
So we learned as kids not to complain about anything hurting. Or we go and get some love from our mama, but our daddy? No, he's going to let you know, “There's nothing to worry about so quit being a worrier.”
