Missing episodes?
Can someone please tell me where the missing episodes are?

Smarter than me, fairly transparent
Most intellectuals get so wrapped up in their justifications for their positions, that it’s hard for a layman to parse out why they propose to believe the things they say. But as a 54 year old, I was taught in the 60s and 70s that slavery was bad, the native Americans got screwed, and that whitey ain’t all that. And at that conservative bastion of intolerance in the 1980s, the University of Rhode Island, all my English and History Profs (I double majored so I could be twice as unemployable) we’re proud lefties. My point is that for at least 40 years, alternative to Old Whitey history has been mainstream-if not predominant. And the reason we recoil from some of the radical interpretations is that we’ve learned that a lot of it is bunk- supported not by rigorous research but by political correctness. There’s been a lot of gods-view (in an atheist)-just - bad work done, and told that it’s good. Don’t criticize it! You must be a racist! You ARE WHITE, after all. So I love these talks, though I’m so glad I didn’t go into academia. Best to all, Doug S Aylett, VA ps, I’ve lived in rural VA and never met a clansman. I make it a habit now to ask people if they have, and no one answers in the affirmative. When I was enlisted in the Army, we all got along. Still do. “The US is virulently racist,” theory doesn’t pass the sniff test.

Great podcast! This matters!
This is a podcast that everyone should pay attention to it's hosts and their content. It's not "light hearted" but important topics usually aren't. I don't want to cram or label the type of person who should or would like to listen. It's my opinion that's the information is a moral imperative which may be a turn off. Just do it. This matters.

Great podcast!
Added to my understanding of globalization and put my limited view into perspective. Very clear and entertaining presentation.

Good show, but
These geniuses, with straight face, claim that the REAL scandal of the Obama presidency was the fact that a black man became president. You guys are historians, so hopefully you have figured out by now that the reason Trump got elected was exactly because of comments like that. You need to dig a little deeper.

Entertaining and informative
Anyone craving thoughtful and well-informed discussion of current events should enjoy this podcast

Repeating Big Errors to Promote an Agenda
I may give them another chance, but after listening to the episode on settlement patterns they were either ignorant of or willingly misconstrued the ideas of "opposition to immigration" versus "opposition to illiegal immigration". The former has hints of racism, while the latter is far less controversial. The problem is that the podcasters use them interchangeably. This subtle 'othering' technique has no place in a real history discussion.

A worthwhile listen
As with The Fall of the Roman Empire, it is refreshing to listen to a well researched and enjoyable podcast

Great podcast
If you enjoy history and how we can review and learn from it by applying lessons to today, this is a great podcast to listen to. Easy to understand for anyone with even a little interest in history.

A fantastic Podcast
I have listened to three episodes so far and these two are awesome. They offer a great conversation which helps to frame our understanding of both our a priori assumptions and how historical context can influence today's currents. This is a wonderful podcast.

Better than several college classes I've taken
I've listened to the first few episodes of the podcast and I am amazed at the level of the content. I've taken college-level history and poli-sci courses at private and state universities, and I've read a great deal on these topics on my own. This podcast is tying together threads that had been left unconnected in my prior education, and it is doing so in an incisive, entertaining, and concise way.

Informative and stimulating discussion
These guys have a nice rapport and in depth knowledge of history. Lots of great discussion that's brings to the surface how much history has to teach us, and how much history shows the future is uncertain.

I dig it
As a refugee from academia and a fan of Wyman's "Fall of Rome" podcast, I'm pretty much in this podcast's wheelhouse. What I appreciate about the approach here is that the hosts are trying to make the tools of academic history comprehensible to a wide audience. This isn't pop history in the mode of a Hanks-narrated documentary: it's evidence that professional historians CAN and SHOULD talk to the public in a meaningful way about current events.

Super
This podcast really does give unique insight, context, and perspective to contemporary events. A big scope of history allows for greater understanding of what's going on now.

Well done
I appreciate hearing an in-depth analysis of the current political environment and the comparison and contrast of our political climate today (and what has led to it) with similar circumstances in both ancient and early modern history. The speakers are well-versed in their knowledge, and their conversations are very thought-provoking. I am rating this with five stars because of how much I enjoyed Episodes 1 through 4, but I was a bit disturbed by a particular string of dialogue at the end of Episode 4 which I hope does not become a trend. A little before four minutes from the end of the episode, one of the speakers (I believe the guest) mentions that the Republican Party worked to make the Obama administration appear to be a string of scandals (a point to which I agree). Then the speaker comments something to the effect of: "But, if we're being honest, the real scandal (for Republicans) is that there was a black man in the White House." To this, everyone laughed and agreed. I am attracted to this podcast because it has up to this point been somewhat nonpartisan in describing the political atmosphere. I am concerned the hosts quite candidly and in full sincerity agreed that the Republican Party is racist. Certainly, anyone interested in the political process has a political preference. However, I do not feel that this comment (and the agreement with it) sits well with the premise of discussing politics objectively. I appreciate the other insights I have learned from listening to this podcast, and I want to continue to learn from them. At this point, because I admire the quality that has been the overwhelmingly characteristic feature of this podcast so far, I will continue to listen in the hope that these gentlemen will maintain a nonpartisan (or at least close to nonpartisan) discussion.

Hooked already
Wow. It's refreshing to hear dispassionate analysis of current happenings in relation to past ones. My only regret is that I subscribed too early to binge on back episodes. Thanks!

New podcast, but excelent
The two hosts are well versed in their topics. They approach it professionally, but with an audience in mind, so they entertain as well as inform.

Great Start
Have only listened to episode 1. Listened while going for a run and purposefully ran a longer route as it went on because I wanted to keep listening. Very good first episode. I learned a lot. Looking forward to more.
